The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Headquarters Office in Plano, TX was excited to donate over 300 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last fall, I had the opportunity to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a crucial part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was created by Cheryl Jackson as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent many of her childhood years wondering if and where she would obtain her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to utilize the food they are given to cook healthy, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume help along with money-management and job classes to help families get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to provide meals for six families for the month.
“Each member of the team was so ecstatic that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even took time to show us their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
